Pretty simple stuff, really:

• To respond when you reach out - can't help you if we don't have your contact info
• Managing projects and keeping track of where we are with designs, permits, consultations
• Sending you updates about your project (we won't spam you with random marketing junk)
• Improving our website so it doesn't suck
• Meeting legal requirements - permits, contracts, that kind of thing
• Occasionally sharing project highlights in our portfolio (with your permission, obviously)

That's it. We're not selling your email to some sketchy marketing list or using your data for anything shady.

We've got your back here. Our approach to security includes:

• Encrypted connections (that little lock icon in your browser)
• Secure servers hosted in Canada
• Limited access - only our team members who actually need your info can see it
• Regular backups so nothing gets lost
• Password-protected systems (and yeah, we use strong passwords, not "password123")

No system's perfect, but we're doing everything reasonable to keep your information safe. If there's ever a breach, you'll hear from us immediately.

We're pretty protective of your information, but sometimes we need to share it with:

• Project partners - Engineers, contractors, consultants working on your project
• Government agencies - When we're submitting permits and dealing with regulations
• Service providers - Our email host, website provider, cloud storage (all bound by their own privacy policies)
• Legal stuff - If we're required by law or if there's some legal issue

We don't sell your data. Period. Anyone we work with is vetted and required to keep your info confidential.

Yeah, we use cookies. Not the chocolate chip kind, unfortunately.

They help us:

• Remember if you've visited before
• Keep you logged in if you're accessing project files
• Figure out which pages are popular so we can improve the site
• Make sure the website actually works properly

You can disable cookies in your browser settings, but some parts of the site might not work as smoothly. We use Google Analytics to see how people use our site - it's anonymized data, and you can opt out if you want.

No creepy ad-tracking stuff here. We're architects, not advertisers.

It's your data, so you've got rights:

• Access - Ask us what info we have about you
• Correction - Tell us if something's wrong and we'll fix it
• Deletion - Request we delete your info (unless we legally have to keep it)
• Opt-out - Unsubscribe from emails or ask us to stop contacting you
• Portability - Get a copy of your data in a usable format

We don't hoard information forever. Here's our approach:

• Active projects - We keep everything while we're working together
• Completed projects - Seven years minimum (Canadian tax and legal requirements)
• Inquiries that didn't go anywhere - About two years, then we delete it
• Portfolio examples - Indefinitely, but only with your explicit permission
• Website analytics - Anonymized data for about 26 months

If you want us to delete something sooner, just let us know - we'll see what we can do within legal limits.

We might update this policy occasionally - laws change, technology evolves, we learn better ways to do things. When we make changes, we'll update the date at the top of this page.

If we make any major changes that affect how we handle your data, we'll let you know directly via email or a notice on our website. We won't pull any sneaky moves.

It's probably worth checking back here once in a while, especially if it's been a couple years since you last looked.
